Biking & Hiking in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

Lancaster County's seemingly endless rolling Amish countryside and winding back roads provide a backdrop for breathtaking touring - and there is no better way to soak in the scenery than by slowing down and biking our roads and trails.

Biking

The Lancaster County Bike Club offers many scenic bicycle tours varying in length (from 7 to 84 miles), type of terrain traveled and difficulty level. Looking to create your own route? Check out the Lancaster County Bike Tour Map.

Another great resource is the Lancaster Bike Club's website which includes various scenic routes that you can take!

Interested in seeing some sites along your bike ride? A helpful tool leads you on tours through Pennsylvania Dutch Country via three state museums (Landis Valley Museum, Ephrata Cloister and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania), and lists heritage lodging and dining sites, as well as bicycle shops. Another popular option is to bike Lancaster's back roads via our 29 historic covered bridges.

Lancaster County also offers four Rails-to-Trails bike trails, which are former railroad corridors that have been turned into public trails.  For other road biking tours, check out Trails.com.

Hiking and Parks

You can also experience the great scenery by taking one of our many walking and hiking trails, such as one of the Susquehanna Gateway Heritage Area's Natural Wonders like Lancaster Junction Trail or the Speedwell Forge County Park, just to name a few. Other great hiking options include the trails found throughout our eight county parks.
