Quite possibly the best way to experience Lancaster County. Traveling aboard authentic passenger cars, pulled by a massive, coal-burning steam locomotive, there's beauty as far as the eyes can see. Rolling hills. Working farms. A landscape that has changed little over time.
Your journey starts with a 45-minute train ride on America's oldest short-line railroad - circa 1832. Travel when you want, how you want. From coach to first class, open air to the Dining Car - it's one stop that is sure to please.
Back at the station, test your power on our authentic Pump Car, take a ride on our miniature steam train or go along for a behind-the-scenes tour of where passenger cars and steam engines are built, restored and refurbished.
The Strasburg Rail Road offers special events for every season. Stop by for "Day Out with Thomas" during his visits in June, September and December. Ride with re-enactors from all eras of our military during November's Trains and Troops Weekend, and celebrate a holiday tradition with Santa's Paradise Express for six days in December. Visit with Santa as carolers and musicians stroll from car to car. Select evening trains even have first-class seating with butler-served wine and cheese, from April through November.
Visit our website for more information, train schedule, fares and to purchase event tickets, and daily and all-day passes.
This year, we are celebrating the rebirth of Strasburg Rail Road. Fifty years ago, twenty-four visionaries breathed new life into Strasburg Rail Road, saving it from abandonment - keeping it alive to educate and entertain for generations to come.
