Pennsylvania College of Art & Design
Pennsylvania College of Art & Design is located in the heart of downtown Lancaster and is an anchor in the thriving and eclectic gallery district. It is the perfect complement to your visit to downtown Lancaster’s farmers market, gallery row on N. Prince Street, and the funky shops on N. Queen Street.
PCA&D is central PA’s only professional art college. It offers bachelor of fine arts degrees in graphic design, illustration, fine arts, and photography and engages over 1200 continuing education students each year: adults, teens and youth in grades 1-9.
Founded in 1982, the college is celebrating its 30th anniversary throughout 2012.
The Main Gallery at PCA&D features a lively, thought-provoking and ambitious exhibition and event schedule that showcases work by diverse regionally- and nationally-known artists and designers. That alone makes its exhibitions and artist talks unusual in Lancaster.
Join us for Lancaster’s largest gallery event by a single organization. In the spring of each year, graduating seniors mount the “Senior Show & Celebration,” during which 60,000 square feet of the College are converted into gallery space for the students’ thesis presentations, all of which are professionally displayed and most feature work for sale. Media include paintings, prints, photography, wearable art, multi-media and animation, illustration, and so much more.
Exhibits, artist talks, book signings and other arts events at PCA&D occur throughout the year and are always free and open to the public. The gallery is handicapped accessible, and is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on weekends during the school year, every First Friday from 5 – 9 p.m., and during the annual ArtWalks.
