Day 1
Adventures in agritourism
Introduce your family to Pennsylvania Dutch Country with an up-close look at the countryside. Try a family Amish buggy ride through the countryside, or use family teamwork to maneuver through the giant Amazing Maize Maze. Enjoy petting zoos or tour Kreider's Dairy Farm for a look at the cow palace and milking merry-go-round.
Family lodging
Continue your agritourism experience with a stay at any of Lancaster County's working farm B&Bs, where kids can learn about farming by helping to milk cows, gather eggs, or feed calves, and the family can head out to see the countryside together with a hayride. If more traditional is what you seek, try any of Lancaster County's fantastic family hotels, complete with swimming pools, mini-golf, water play and more.
Lancaster Barnstormers
Clipper Magazine Stadium, Lancaster
Play ball with Lancaster's new baseball team and the newest member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The Barnstormers offer professional baseball games in a family-friendly atmosphere - spend a great evening at the ballpark!
Day 2
Amusements for the entire family
Get ready for some true, old-fashioned family fun with a visit to any of these wonderful family-friendly parks. At Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park, friendly mascot Duke welcomes everyone to this "kingdom for kids," with rides, games, and water play attractions all designed for the younger set. For those a little older, try the thrills and spills of Hersheypark and samples at the adjacent Hershey's Chocolate World, or for those who want to become part of the action themselves, the whole family can get into the spirit of merrie olde England at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, where you may become part of the Human Chess Match, be rescued by a dashing knight, or even meet the Queen herself!
Trains, Trains, Trains
In the quaint village of Strasburg, train enthusiasts will find themselves in locomotive paradise. Take a ride on the Strasburg Rail Road for a look at what steam engine travel was really like. Head across the street to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania for a look at engines through the ages, or check out locomotives of the miniature variety at the National Toy Train Museum. At the Choo-Choo Barn, visitors can experience a model train set that's truly like no other!
Day 3
Snack factory tours
The whole family will enjoy going behind the scenes where some of the nation's favorite products are made. Learn to hand-twist a Pennsylvania Dutch pretzel with tours at either Sturgis Pretzel House or Intercourse Pretzel Factory, where kids of all ages can learn the skill of pretzel twisting and watch firsthand how the tasty concoctions are made. At Herr's Snack Factory, you'll observe as thousands of pounds of potato chips, pretzels, cheese curls, and more head off the assembly line and into grocery store shelves. Sample warm potato chips just off the line - there's truly nothing like it!
