Day 1     

Ephrata Cloister
632 West Main Street, Ephrata
This national historic landmark, founded in 1732, was the home of an early 1700s German religious community and one of the early groups to settle in Lancaster County. The Ephrata Cloister's unique architecture, as well as the early music, printing, and fraktur of the Brothers and Sisters who resided there, are featured. Tours available.

Landis Valley Museum
2451 Kissel Hill Road, Lancaster
Landis Valley Museum is a living history village of Pennsylvania Dutch life. Administered by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, Landis Valley has over 40 historic structures located on 100 acres, filled with everything from open hearth cooking demonstrations to ice cream and butter making. Once an actual rural village, the museum features tours, wagon rides, craft demonstrations, heirloom gardens, & various pottery, weaving, quilting, and other demonstrations on various days. 

Overnight lodging in historic inn
Lancaster County is chock-full of historic inns and B&Bs with historic significance. Try Cameron Estate Inn, which was once owned by one of the most influential families in Pennsylvania during the time of the Civil War. At the Historic Revere Tavern, you'll stay in a property once owned by James Buchanan.


Day 2

Downtown Lancaster
This is America's oldest inland city and is rich in the history and heritage of Pennsylvania Dutch Country! Spend the day learning about the town that served as the nation's capital for a day during Colonial times, was an important stop along the Underground Railroad, and has been an ongoing example of true Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. Stops may include Lancaster Central Market, the oldest continuously-operating farmers' market in the nation, the Lancaster Cultural History Museum and Lancaster Quilt & Textile Museum, a walking tour of historic downtownWheatland, the home of President James Buchanan, the Demuth Museum, home of Lancaster native and renowned artist Charles Demuth, Historic Rock Ford Plantation, or the Fulton Opera House, one of only three operating National Historic Landmark theatres in the country!

Living the Experience
450-512 East Strawberry Street, Lancaster
This unique Underground Railroad reenactment takes place in an historic church that was once a station along the Underground Railroad and helped hundreds of escaped Africans on their Quest for Freedom. During the reenactment, you will meet the conductors, Freedom Fighters and others who participated in the Underground Railroad here in Lancaster and surrounding counties.

Day 3

Covered Bridge Driving Tour
Marvel at the intricate design and nostalgia of Lancaster County's historic covered bridges. Just the sight of our covered bridges brings to mind thoughts of old charm and romance, and in Lancaster County, we have plenty of both. Sometimes referred to as "kissing bridges" because of the many couples who have strolled across them over the years, Lancaster County is home to 30 of these covered bridges, most still drivable! Self-guided driving tour routes and maps are available online.
