Couples Art & Culinary Adventure

Get to know some of Lancaster’s local theatres, art galleries, brew pubs and enjoy some of the most creative culinary experiences around. Enjoy a relaxing time for the two of you, taking it all in!

Morning

Prince Street Café. You'll love the pace of this downtown coffee shop. It provides you a place to relax and take a break from the fast lane. In addition to great coffee, they serve gourmet soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts. If you’re up for a walk, you could stroll the surrounding blocks to find several other quaint breakfast nooks.

On the second floor of the Prince Street Café is the Julia Swartz Gallery. Since 2003, Julia has exhibited and sold her work in over 50 juried art exhibitions and won numerous awards. In the spring of 2007, Julia beautifully renovated the second floor of one of the oldest buildings in Lancaster, right on Gallery Row. The 1600 square foot gallery is the new home for her paintings and studio where she paints. Stop in, watch her paint and browse her art exhibit.

Now it’s time to make your own art. Just around the corner, you can paint your own pottery at The Pottery Works or make your own jewelry at and the BeadWorks and Gem Den, a bead shop and an open bead studio.

Afternoon

Within walking distance is Carr’s Restaurant, where American classics are retooled using local, farm-raised poultry, organically-produced meats and farm-raised shellfish. Tickled by Asian accents, creative items are spun into exotic, artful presentations. Bon Apetit! If it’s a Tuesday, Friday or Saturday, you might instead walk to Central Market, where you can each grab something different, and sit outside on one of the benches lining the cobblestone market alley.

To experience professional, Broadway-quality musicals, comedies and dramas at Lancaster value in beautiful National Historic Landmark, then cross the street to the Fulton Theatre.

Evening

Take a short drive to enjoy Lancaster’s freshest, handcrafted beers while dining in a working brewery. Lancaster Brewing Company is a restaurant that offers delicious and freshly prepared items for lunch or dinner with casual ambiance, wonderful menu selections, and friendly service.

Reflect on your fun and creative day at the Cork Factory Hotel at Urban Place. This full-service boutique hotel located in a former cork factory will exceed your expectations. If you’re not ready for bed yet, head down to their bar for a glass of wine.
